Did you know that Fluent Outdoors can also be used as an interactive event map? In addition to sports and tourism destinations, the map platform is suitable for outdoor events, festivals, ski resorts and many other uses.

Many people know Fluent Outdoors as a system for managing sports and tourism destinations for municipalities and cities. It can also be used in a wide range of outdoor events, providing an interactive map that helps visitors find their way around the event area.

The map can show event entrances, information points, stalls, stages, toilet facilities and anything else visitors may need. It pinpoints each user’s location in the area, making it easier to navigate from place to place. The browser-based map service is also optimised for mobile use.

“Fluent Outdoors can be an accessible solution for many events. It doesn’t require visitors to download a separate app, and the event map can easily be embedded on the organiser’s website and in other external systems,” says Mikko Hassinen, Chief Commercial Officer at Fluent.

Who is the map platform for?

The interactive Fluent Outdoors map suits events of all sizes, from small-town fairs to world-class festivals. For example, Swimsuit Skiing, held at Himos, has used a Fluent Outdoors map to show the audience area, saunas and ski routes.

There is no limit to the number of locations that can be added to the map, and event organisers can manage locations and content in real time.

The data collected provides valuable insights for the future, helping organisers develop their event or destination through informed decision-making.

“Fluent can also provide content creation and location descriptions as a service, giving organisers more time to focus on other event arrangements,” Mikko Hassinen says.

The map platform can also host timely announcements, so all event-related communications can be managed in one place.

Collect event data and make informed decisions

Data collection devices, such as visitor counters and water temperature sensors, can be connected to a Fluent Outdoors event map. The data they gather can also be displayed on the map in real time.

“Data collection devices can provide valuable information about, for example, peak crowding and how visitors move around the area,” Mikko Hassinen notes.

The event offering can also be enhanced with AI-powered camera technology, which makes it possible to monitor visitor and traffic volumes across a wider area. The data collected can then support the further development of the event.

Fluent also conducts impact studies for events through Fluent Survey. These studies can examine visitor profiles, how long visitors stay, their spending and the event’s regional impact.

“The data collected provides valuable insights for the future, helping organisers develop their event or destination through informed decision-making,” Mikko Hassinen says.
